Our Programs

Since 1963, Spon­sors for Edu­ca­tional Oppor­tu­nity (SEO) has made a life­time of achieve­ment pos­si­ble for 10,000 tal­ented young peo­ple from under­served and under­rep­re­sented communities.

Estab­lished in 1963, SEO Schol­ars is a rig­or­ous eight-year aca­d­e­mic pro­gram that pre­pares low-income pub­lic high school stu­dents for admis­sion to the nation’s most com­pet­i­tive colleges–and sup­ports them through col­lege grad­u­a­tion. The pro­gram is free for stu­dents and has tripled in size since 2006. We cur­rently serve 476 high school stu­dents in New York City and San Fran­cisco in addi­tion to 239 col­lege stu­dents at 106 schools across 19 states.

What’s the Impact?

  • 100% of Schol­ars are accepted to four-year colleges
  • 87% of Schol­ars in the class of 2012 were accepted to a col­lege ranked Most, Highly, or Very Com­pet­i­tive by Barron’s
  • 95% of Col­lege Schol­ars grad­u­ate within 6 years (com­pared to 54% of all col­lege stu­dents who grad­u­ate in 6 years nationally)

Estab­lished in 1980, SEO Career has placed more than 6,000 U.S. under­grad­u­ate stu­dents in sum­mer intern­ships, and is widely rec­og­nized as the nation’s pre­mier intern­ship pro­gram for under­rep­re­sented col­lege stu­dents, spe­cial­iz­ing in bank­ing, cor­po­rate lead­er­ship, law, non-profit, pri­vate equity and more.

What’s the Impact?

  • His­tor­i­cally, more than 75% of interns at banks and global com­pa­nies receive offers to return full-time. 
  • Over the past two years, SEO has pro­vided more than 600 intern­ships with more than 50 cor­po­rate and non­profit partners.
  • Alumni have launched pro­grams in Lon­don, Viet­nam, China and Ghana (com­ing Sum­mer 2013)

Estab­lished in 2009, SEO Alter­na­tive Invest­ments pro­vides edu­ca­tion, expo­sure, train­ing and men­tor­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties to tal­ented pro­fes­sion­als tra­di­tion­ally under­rep­re­sented in the alter­na­tive invest­ments sector.

  • 34 ana­lysts have par­tic­i­pated in our 10-month Fel­low­ship program
  • 86% of 2010-12 Fel­lows accepted full-time posi­tions at alter­na­tive invest­ments firms
  • 1,000+ pro­fes­sion­als have attended our annual Alter­na­tive Invest­ments Con­fer­ence since 2010
