Working with a regional alumni chapter
Alumni chapters in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, South Florida, Texas and Washington D.C. give SEO a broader presence and provide a social and professional network for alumni in those regions. Chapters also provide critical support to the SEO Career Program by helping recruit and interview candidates and offering guidance to interns in advance of their SEO summer experience. In addition, chapters represent the best of SEO as they undertake volunteer activities to give back to their local communities.
Regional chapter presidents are alumni with demonstrated commitment to SEO. They lead the strategic direction of their chapters, identify and organize chapter "VPs" to accomplish goals, liaise with the alumni association Vice Chair for Regional Chapters and SEO staff, and help coordinate programs, when needed.
Chapter VPs coordinate, support or promote chapter programs in one or more designated areas:
› Plan alumni networking socials
› Coordinate a professional development events or roundtable discussions
› Help rally local alumni to participate in Career Program recruiting & interviewing
› Coordinate a local community service project for alumni to do together
› Coordinate industry-focused mentoring matches for new alumni in your region
› Manage chapter communications to keep alumni connected
› Forge relationships with other local organizations or associations to co-host events
Chapter leaders are ideally able to serve in a role for at least one year and help engage future leaders to ensure effective transitions and sustain chapter activity.
