Helping with the new Alternative Investment initiative

SEO has increased its activities in the alternative investment sector, including launching the Alternative Investment Fellowship Program (AIFP) in 2009.  With the goal of increasing diversity in the private equity industry, the AIFP provides education, training and mentoring to the Fellows, who are talented young financial analysts of color.

Alumni with experience in this area can volunteer in the following ways:

Interview Fellowship applicants in the winter
As they do with Career Program interviews, alumni play an essential role in helping SEO identify top candidates for the AIFP.  Interviewers can spend half-day or full-day sessions screening applicants on Saturdays or Sundays at SEO.

Help with training and mock interviews for selected Fellows during the year
Technical and interview skills development is critical to Fellows' success.  Mock interviewers spend a half-day with Fellows in May to help them prepare for the real thing.

Help plan events for other alumni interested in the field
With many alumni working or interested in the alternative investment sector, other events allow them to expand their knowledge and exposure.  Volunteers can help craft and coordinate discussions as well as assist with outreach to promote attendance.
