Vol­un­teer Opportunities

Vol­un­teer­ing with SEO gives alumni the oppor­tu­nity to:

> Invest in future gen­er­a­tions by directly guid­ing and inspir­ing the young peo­ple SEO serves

> Sup­port the ongo­ing pro­fes­sional and per­sonal devel­op­ment of their fel­low alumni

> Help SEO sus­tain, strengthen and grow its core pro­grams and networks

> Har­ness and build their own lead­er­ship skills and experiences

Mentor or Tutor SEO Scholars

• Men­tor 11th or 12th graders a cou­ple of Sat­ur­days per month
• Men­tor 9th or 10th graders on Fri­day or Sat­ur­day afternoons
• Tutor Schol­ars after school 2 hours per week

Work with College Scholars or Career Interns

• Men­tor a SEO Career intern dur­ing the summer
• Men­tor an SEO-U par­tic­i­pant in the spring/summer
• Par­tic­i­pate in train­ing work­shops at SEO Career Ori­en­ta­tion in May
• Speak on a career explo­ration panel at the Col­lege Schol­ars Win­ter Retreat in January
• Review resumes/cover let­ters or do mock inter­views with Col­lege Schol­ars remotely
• Pro­vide a “job shad­ow­ing” oppor­tu­nity for Col­lege Schol­ars inter­ested in your field

Work on Programs for Fellow Alumni

• Be a “Pro­fes­sional Devel­op­ment Cap­tain” and with a small team coor­di­nate panel dis­cus­sions or other resources on a par­tic­u­lar indus­try or career topic pop­u­lar among alumni
• Men­tor an SEO alum through the MBA appli­ca­tion process
• Be avail­able to advise alumni on grad­u­ate school or entering/advancing in a spe­cific industry
• Co-coordinate pro­grams to edu­cate alumni on wealth cre­ation and strate­gic philanthropy
• Help coor­di­nate after-work net­work­ing socials for alumni

Support SEO's Institutional Advancement

• Become a fundrais­ing “Advo­cate” to help build sup­port and aware­ness of the Schol­ars program’s work to close the achieve­ment gap and pre­pare stu­dents for college
• Co-chair your SEO class 5-year or 10-year anniver­sary, includ­ing class gift initiative

Support the SEO Alternative Investments Program

• Inter­view SEO Alter­na­tive Invest­ments Fel­low­ship Pro­gram appli­cants in the winter
• Help with train­ing and mock inter­views for selected Fel­lows dur­ing the year
• Help plan events for other alumni inter­ested in the field

Work with a Regional Alumni Chapter

• Plan an alumni net­work­ing social
• Coor­di­nate a pro­fes­sional event or round­table discussion
• Help rally local alumni to par­tic­i­pate in SEO Career recruit­ing & interviewing
• Coor­di­nate a local com­mu­nity ser­vice project for alumni to do together
• Coor­di­nate industry-focused men­tor­ing matches for new alumni in your region
• Man­age chap­ter com­mu­ni­ca­tions to keep alumni connected

Engage Alumni at Your Company Around SEO Initiatives

In the tra­di­tional “Firm Cap­tain” role at SEO part­ners where alumni are working:

• Help coor­di­nate events/resources for SEO sum­mer interns
• Act to raise aware­ness of SEO within the company
• Fos­ter the alumni net­work and cul­ti­vate alumni involve­ment in SEO activities
