SEO College Scholars Program 2010 Winter Retreat

Alumni Volunteers Needed on January 6th

As we do each year, we are inviting SEO alumni to participate in the SEO College Scholars Program Winter Retreat in early January.  The Retreat provides over 100 college students who were in the SEO Scholars Program in high school with workshops on academic achievement, seminars on developing career readiness skills and opportunities to meet and network with professionals. It has enabled many students to advance their knowledge and skills, secure summer internships and become desirable candidates for top jobs – and they greatly appreciate the time alumni spend with them and the difference they make!

The career-focused component of the Retreat will be held at NYU Law School on Wednesday, January 6, 2010.

Here’s how you can help:

1) Speak on a Career Panel and attend the Networking Reception, 2:15–4:45pm, Furman Hall (245 Sullivan St)
Listed below are the occupations of greatest interest to the College Scholars.  If you work in one of these fields and would like to speak on a panel, please RSVP with a one-paragraph bio, which will be included in the information packet given to students.  We ask panelists to stay for the networking reception so students who didn’t attend your panel can also meet you.

2) Attend the Networking Reception, 3:45–4:45pm, Greenberg Lounge (40 Washington Sq. South)
The reception functions as a career exploration fair.   Different occupational groups will be stationed around the room where students can identify people they’d like to meet.  Volunteers just need to be willing to speak about their professional experience and career trajectory and help students practice their networking skills!  If you work in one of the occupations below and would like to attend, please RSVP with a one-paragraph bio, which will be included in the information packet given to students.

3) Help us find volunteers for the Networking Reception
The students have a wide variety of career interests! We are looking for participants who fit in any of the occupations/fields listed below. If you have friends or colleagues who can attend, please ask them to contact us at their earliest convenience!
