Donor Advised Pooled Fund

SEO’s Donor-advised Pooled Fund (DAPF) saw a small group of SEO alumni make grants to a range of nonprofit organizations in 2004.  A $60,000 matching challenge grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation encouraged DAPF committee members to raise $60,000 in their own donations toward the Fund.  With assistance from SEO staff and Tides Foundation, the committee brought their personal philanthropic interests to the table, learned about collaborative and strategic giving, researched various organizations, and together awarded grants totaling $120,000.

Complementing the Donor-advised Pooled Fund was the SEO Endowment Challenge. The W.K. Kellogg Foundation successfully challenged SEO’s alumni to establish an endowment for SEO by pledging to match, dollar-for dollar, the first $40,000 contributed by alumni. This created an endowment to ensure that SEO remains a vital force in the lives of the people it serves.
